Well, this isn't 100% GOF2-related, but it's certainly GOF2-inspired. I've been working with AutoCAD lately, and I did this as sort of an experiment in materials and lighting. It's still a work in progress, but here it is so far:

I'm still trying to figure out how to do ambient light, so it looks rather a lot like it would if it were actually in space- bright, sharp reflections, stark, absolute shadows. As much as I like accuracy, I also like being able to see all of it, so I'm working on fixing that.

WOW! Amazing concept art! I think I will pick up a pencil and some paper and work on some of the ideas I have been working on for a while. I am no artist and all my work is with pencil and paper (probably black and white drawings) so pls don't judge my work too hard when I do post it. Until then I hope to see more awesome concept art posted here!

I thought it is GoF1-related: it looks like a Centaur or an Icarus. Image
Nice work anyway! Image Have you tried making ships with curve sides yet? Some of them are really cool! Image

Here are 3 pictures of a terran cruiser I am working on in google sketch-up on my mac. It isn't the best program (Pain in the ass to work with...) but it works. Tell me what you guys think of it!

SPOILER: SHOW

The things coming out of the front are sensors and antenna for the ship. Once I am finished with the main design I am going to add turrets and a large main weapon. I will work on frigates for escorts for the cruiser once I am done this ship. Later I will work on a battleship and maybe a dreadnought size ship.

Is this a Terran Battlecruiser? I thought it is a Teneta initially!

The design is slightly out of scale: it should be twice as long in length. There should be four thrusters at the back instead of two. If possible, you should add a barrel to the turret on top. Or else it looks like a turret slot instead, that's why I think it is the Teneta...... It should also be placed a bit fronter. The middle of the ship should be slimmer too. You can use sceenshots of the battlecruisers as reference to make it more realistic. Or have I mistaken, and you are actually creating your own design?...... Sorry if that's true. Image

Good try anyway. Image You made a lot of surfaces and the front of the ships looks awesome! Image Did you make up the positions of the antennas or did you copy it from photos?

No need to say sorry @Maxwell Equations, I was just working on it as I saw fit. There was no basis to the design, I just jumped in head first. In hind sight it does kinda look like the Teneta xD

Also there are 3 engines, if you look in the second picture, the third is in the center and is much larger. The side ones are to represent normal space engines and the center is the main thruster for warp or the khador drive. I have currently trashed the design and I am working on a new more slim "destroyer" design with lots of turrets. I will see what comes next after I finalize the design.

Just to clarify that is not a turret up top, that is the bridge in which the ship is commanded from. I didn't colour in the ship so it is hard to tell where the glass is unless you made the ship.

Thanks for the suggestions however! I am going to work on my next design immediately!

I actually mean "sorry for the useless suggestions if you are not making the T-AOS battlecruiser". Maybe we have a little misconception here...... Anyway, good luck making your next design! Image
